These are a popular Antenna choice for truck drivers' what would be a good sized shaft and whip for mounting on a bird perch I've noticed different sized shafts ,I'm guessing the smaller ones are for mirror mounts . So I'm looking at a round figure the antenna to purchase would it be better buy online the perch for a freightliner cascadia and a good quality mirror antenna mount, and good coax complete with pl259's how is coax sold by the Metre or foot what do radio shops charge to install , many thanks drivers

I have the predator 10k on a 13 cascadia with the 22 inch shaft with a 2 on the swr meter but I've heard the 27 inch shaft is what most use on the new cascadias

You must really be talking loud and proud with that dual Antenna set up' how much did you spend if you don't mind on the pair of Antenna's and tell us how you mounted them what type of mounts and cable you used , did you do the install yourself

If you will search this site and most others, they will tell you that running ONE antenna will give better results than running two.

This is a "SW" Dual Coil Predator 10K, with a 12" lower shaft...(not my truck) This set-up works perfect tho mounted like this, if this helps....
22" and 27" shafts not available with the dual coil 10K's, or the "Comp-Coil" or the "Bad to the Bone" versions...stacks Thanks this. -
If you are mounting on a mirror like on the Cascadia, you want your load as high as you can get away from everything. Probably why they are using the 27" shaft. A cheaper way to go is use a 7ft, top loaded antenna like the SkipShooter. The tip will only be at 13ft. Your antenna will be up away from everything in the clear and the longer antenna helps to overcome the lack of a ground plane on these new trucks resulting in lower SWR and better results. "Longer is Better"!

I've found a site that sells the 22'' /27'' shaft at $63.50 which is a good' deal others are selling same Antenna for $90.00 I'm sure some of the radio shops on the highway are also selling these same spec Antenna for $100.00 or more ..
