I conduct my Pre-trip and Post Trip Inspections and check each item as I check it. If I finsd a discrepancy I anotate it in the remarks section and move on to the next item.

We have reciently been advised that we only need to mark the areas NOT in compliance and anotate them in the remarks section.

Have I been doing this all wrong? Please direct me to the referance in the regulations so that I will be in compliance.

Haven't had an Inspection book for about two years years, the company gave us an inspection form on a 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper (no instructions). You did answer my question, I will stop and pickup an Inspection book with the instructions and make sure it is done right.

:biggrin_2556: The e-logs im gonna buy for my logging for my laptop is pretty neet, not only can you do your logs on laptop, but you push the button and a pretip and inspection sheet slids up and you fill this out, all this for $59 bucks plus i think $15 for upgrades for a year, pretty neet program, Everett.:biggrin_25514:

Thanks Everett, let me know how that works out for you. I have seen the programs on the internet but wasn't sure which would be the best.

can someone help me out on this one? if you`re the only driver of a truck, why do a post trip if when you wake up you need to do a pretrip anyway? i could see why if you`re slip seated. cya..

Please read FMCSR 396.11 (a) and (b). It's a "Post trip inspection REPORT" based on inspections, including the pre-trip, done during your shift and any information reported to the driver by others. Then read the FAQ at FMCSR web sight. Pay particular attention to question 25. Your company may have other standards that require more.
