I'm helping a family friend get into trucking and I'm making videos for him to get a head start on learning the different components of the truck and the phrases he'll need to learn for the pre trip portion of the test.
Let me know what I'm missing:
' Not cracked, Not bent, Not broken' -All metal components.
' No abrasions, no bulges. No cuts' - All hoses
'No leaks' -anything with fluid or air
Tires 2/32nd minimum tread depth except steers, 4/32nd.
Belts no more than a quarter inch of give.
Hoses and wires (near tandems) no less than 18 inches above the pavement.
I forget what to say about over tightened lug nuts and bolts on the fifth wheel.
Any help is appreciated! Ty.

There are a dozen CDL school videos showing the items & required wording for Pre-Trip Inspection on YouTube. Just search CDL school pre-trip inspection. Only watch the ones from CDL schools. Also the state CDL manual has the diagram, items, required wording.

Lug nuts, for example, are tightened to around 475 ft/lbs of torque. Not something that a driver can check or that is even part of the pretrip inspection.
Checking for loose lug nuts is, however.tscottme and BillyBobFrank Thank this. -
PMS properly mounted and secured
