Hey everybody, what's the the quickest way from Portland Or to Chicago IL, I know jumpin on a plane, but that's not an option. The I90 route or I80? It seems like we use to take the 80 to eastern Oregon then cut across Hwy12, thru some wilderness area to I90 at Missoula, somehow that saved either miles, or time, or both. Then I kinda remember takin I84 to I86 to I15 into Hwy30 thru Soda Springs down to I80 that way, and that was shorter or quicker or whatever. Man I can't remember it's been too long. Yes I did the Map things, Google, and Mapquest and some others, they seem to say it's a wash more or less either way. By either way I mean straight out the 80, or up and across on the 90. It's gonna be in about a month, so I'm thinkin the weather might be a little warmer, so less chance of snow and ice. So I can't really use that for a deciding factor. Well anyway I thought I'd ask you guys for your imput. And please don't give me too rough a time for not remembering, it's been quite a few years since I got to go that direction. Oh yeah, Thanks!!![]()

I have street atlas and it says it is 2123 miles to go 84 down to salt lake, get on 80 and go strait across.
It says 2142 to go 84 to 82 395 to 90 94 90
The shortest way possible but not the fastest by any ways is to go this route... if you want any more deails about this way which i doubt you will LOL... or if you want me to run it with some kind of a stop in at a certain place let me know. My street atlast is great.... well this is the shortest but not quickest route.. but most scenic i'd say is 2057 84 14 395 90 route 12 across helena then you jump on a 294 for a little ways around mosgate then back on 12 then back on 94 fora little ways then back on 12 you stay on 12 all the way to Minneapolis then in Madison you get back on 12 -
