Hi
I replace thermostat and Engine oil Sensor since then I am keep getting "poor def quality" message with following error codes and blinking orange def light.
Temp sensor working good as meter show accurate warm coolant to 200.
I usually use BULK DEF

SPN 3364 FMI 2
SPN 4364 FMI 18
SPN 5246 FMI 15
SPN 5246 FMI 16
-----------------------------------------------
SPN 3226 FMI 20 (Happens only once, fix this error with Detroit dealer they told me everything is fine no need to do anything like DPF cleaning)
I also replace DEF filter. from Dallas TA, they told me my def was not good. drain and replace DEF filter. cost me US 680$.
After getting these errors I start using BLUE DEF. till once get poor def quality error temp was below -9.
I took truck to three mechanics they told me my DPF is good no need to clean DPF.
******* I notice I get these errors once temp goes below -10, as i drive to Laredo TX where I never had any problem in hot weather. ******
So far Regen helped me to get rid of these errors.
One guy told me to check DEF heater may be def heater is not working good. my current mechanic told me that circulation of coolant is good as hot coolant keep def warm.
Any idea to start from.

Well Error is gone for why, I really dont know. Whole I did in this situation
1) Stop buying bulk DEF from bad pumps. (specilly in night time or less rush hours)
2) use Box blue def.
3) Put cardbord in front of radiator grill to warm my coolant. I was start drving without making my truck enough warm in coold weather. so I cover my front of radiator which is making my truck warm.
4) On uphill or downhill use lower gears to make oil pressure go up. I dnt know exactly but i think low oil pressure has some link to create def or emission realted errors.NCTru919 Thanks this. -
The DPF is a separate system than the SCR (which uses the DEF), so don't think about the DPF at all right now. Chances are that it has nothing to do with you current situation.
When was the last time you cleaned the DEF doser valve? They build up, which makes a bad spray pattern and can lead to poor NOx conversion faults and DEF quality faults. Your SPN 5246 is the speed derate for the the other 2 faults. In my experience, clogged doser valves are the #1 cause for SCR problems. Failed NOx sensors and NH3 sensors are common as well, but have their own fault codes.
The first thing I would do id pull the DEF doser off and run the dosing test to see the spray pattern and measure the output. -
Ive had bad quality def and low conversion messages. Ended up needing both nox sensors. There was nothing wrong with def fluid.
