'11 367 day cab. Just the stock factory Dephi unit in there and its reception is just terrible... Coming from my prior job I know what the range is and it seems the fm band covers only about 1/2 the range they should or could. Am band is basically useless from static in the background when it does come in and the range is even worse than fm.
The radio in my truck likes to cut out for 3-5 secs every several minutes. Company has a handful of identical trucks and they all act the same in regards to reception and static...
Is this issue common with other folks to? Is it just a result of a crappy radio? I've thought upgrading the radio but not interested in spending the money if the issue is more with the truck than radio...

Have you considered going to a big, brand name, auto parts store and purchasing one of those cheap radio antennas that is embedded into a strip of tape. The kind that you glue to the inside of the windshield? If it improved reception then the problem is the antenna system of the truck and not the radio.

.CB radio problems are common on new trucks. All input signals are carried on the same wiring that goes through multiple connection points which have been troublesome. The signal for the CB is, for lack of a better term, split off at the CB radio. The easiest fix is to run a separate CB antenna and coax directlly to the CB radio. I wonder if that same concept of separate antenna and coax to the AM/FM radio would be a good solution to your problem. Just something for you to consider.

Sometimes other things you may have on or plugged in can generate enough of a field to mess with reception. I had a Sirius satellite radio that when plugged in would blank out all but the closest and most powerful AM stations, unplugging it made a world of difference.

Well twice this week, the fm band quit working(am and weather were fine) for about 2 hrs each time, than as if nothing happened it came back... So going to start looking at new radios, any suggestions? All I want is a front USB connection and weather band would be nice.
