Hey there Truckers out there, My name is pat. I am in search of feedback from those of you who have experimented with poly half fenders. I have been a trucker for almost 10 years, and now I have become my own boss. I have a kenworth pulling a frameless dump and am in the market for half fenders, I have never seen plastic fenders in use. I have, and have seen other haulers with steel half fenders that have been modified by falling debris off the front of the dump that have mangled these fenders, no doubt caused from the loader operator and myself, while loading the dump. So this makes me think, instead of buying fenders that will have to be replaced in a few years I wanted to get plastic fenders, but on the other hand. How well do these plastic fenders hold up, do they crack due to vibrations from the truck. Have some of you with these fenders experienced these sort of problems, also has anyone experimented with some sort of rubber grommet or a cushion between the fenders, or even small springs through the bolt so as to make a floating effect, so no cracks occur? Hope some of you have actual scenarios you could share with me about your poly fenders. Also I see there are poly fenders and minimizer fenders, is there a difference? . Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I run the Fleet Engineers full fenders. So far so good, pulling a 3 axle RGN.

I have a set of four Fleet Engineers full fenders and they are tough!! The take a beating, they are almost 10 years old and still look pretty good.

Another vote for plastic fenders from Fleet Engineers: http://www.fleetengineers.com/fender031-01639.html
Full fenders on my tractor for 3 years now, clobbered many times still going strong. Full set about $800, half fenders about $450 -
$240 a pair, $480 a set of 4. Made my own mounts.

I have a set of Fleet Engineers on one of my trucks. They are holding up very well. Like left lane said buy from Ryder parts they have the best price on them that I could find.

I also recommend the fenders from Fleet Engineers. I have had mine on for 3 years and they look great. I even have the decorative stainless strip that runs down them. I went with the individual wheel fenders instead of the half fenders. They do a better job of keeping water spray down and if sand happens to fall on them from the loader it just falls off.
Not it sure what they run now but I am sure the are about the same price I paid $147.00 a fender here in Chicago. -
hey there Canary, can I ask if you had mounted them with the mounting kit or did you modify your own mounting, and if you used a kit is there grommets or a rubber piece between the fender and the mounting to absorb any shock produced by the truck?
-
I used the mounting kit from Fleet Engineers and it was fairly easy to do. A buddy and myself had the whole set mounted in roughly 4.5 hours. I am trying to upload the pic of my truck but having issues. I can email you the pics if you want to see them mounted. I am very happy with the fenders and there is no rubber between the brackets and the fender. The fenders are so light that they are not needed. Actually, the brackets weigh more than the fenders do.
For or what it worth, the Minimizer fenders I hear are good as well but cost a lot more. Minimizer offers a lifetime guarantee where as fleet engineers do not. I also like the way the fleet engineer fenders fit around the wheel as well. They come down around the wheel better.
