    :biggrin_255: ~ about $335 a set.

...or if money is a bit tight, they have these Anti-Siphon units that are around $50 each..

I've heard more than a few times people offering to buy fuel...I asked why not use the pump knowing they were looking for company drivers that would sell their company fuel at a discount for cash...Both parties deserve a beatdown....

There was a group of guys in SC a few years back that had modified a trailer with a thousand gallon tank and pump inside. The driver would pull into a gas station and park right on top of the lids to the underground tanks. The driver would go inside and get whatever while his accomplices would be inside the trailer siphoning fuel straight from the holding tanks. Pretty ingenious really. It took a while before the authorities caught on.

About a month ago pulled into a SC TA punched my numbers in, the cashier and her O/O boy friend came running up and hollering that I was pumping his Fuel in the company truck but I could pay him back for the fuel I pumped. Called co. and they said it was showing on my card, they called supervisor and cashier + bf was leaving soon after, on their own without a police escort. Wonder how often this happens?

And that's the difference between....let's say a Steering Wheel Holder and a responsible TRUCK driver.

I have no responsibility to capitalized trucking ventures who undercut rates and hire disposable steering wheel holders that undercut and hold down O/O's from making an honest living.

There is no honor among thieves. So why do you insist on being honorable to the dishonorable?

If I saw someone siphoning an O/O's tank, I wouldn't call the cops, nope. I would point out to him the nearest Swift or Werner truck.

There is only two things you can be in this world, either the Exploiter or the Exploited. There is no inbetween, well yes there is, you can exploit the exploiters, but it is a tough job few are up to the task for.

The 3rd trip I ever made in my own truck, I stopped for the night at a motel in Hope, AR. Wasn't even an hour after my head hit the pillow, the room phone rang. It was the front desk, notifying me that their night time security guard (an off-duty Hope detective) had caught someone attempting to steal my fuel. (ALWAYS leave vehicle information on the check-in form, even if they say it isn't necessary...that's the only way they knew which room to call).

Yeah, I went down there and filled out the report to press charges. That was the last I heard about it...been over 3 years now.

Their pump was located in the sleeper under the bunk....a quick-connect on a hose which they'd place in their victim's tank...

...and the other hose dropped through a hole in their floor right into their own fuel tank...

The felony theft charges were the LEAST of their worries, though. During the "search incident to arrest", the police discovered about a dozen gallon jugs of whiskey & other hard liquor in the sleeper. That is illegal transportation of alcohol in a commercial motor vehicle. Not only that, but Hope, AR is in a dry county....and they had more than they were allowed to have, so they got charged with bootlegging, too. Their truck was impounded, and the DOT went over it with a fine tooth comb...no telling what else was discovered.

After this happened, I did the whole "locking fuel cap" thing for a while...but it grew to be more of an inconvenience for ME than it was a deterrent to a thief. If they want your fuel, all they need is a wrench to disconnect the fuel line from the bottom of the tank, or they'll remove the drain plug, or they'll just knock a hole in the tank...but if they want it, they'll get it, and there really isn't much you can do to stop a determined thief.

The BEST defense against fuel theft? Empty tanks. If I'm on the road, I plan my fuel stops so that at the end of the day, my tanks are pretty much empty. If they pop the fuel cap and see that the tank is empty, most of the time they'll just move on since I don't have enough of what they are after to make it worth their time & effort....risk vs. reward just isn't in their favor. In the morning, I fuel up & hit the road...ensuring that I am the one who gets to run the miles burning the fuel I bought....not some no-good low-life thievin' SOB.
