Anyone here know Pneumatic Tankers inside and out?
I have a local cement plant and may have an in to loads but i know very little about these trailers. I see 2 basic types one looks more like the standard tanker shape and the other is a more unique shape the 2 brands most comon seem to be Butler tanks and FRUEHAUF tanks.
Guess i need to know pros and cons between the 2 types.
Most likely ill haul cement and sand into the oil fields or deliver to customers that ship into the oil fields.
The conventional tank type looks like it would be be more stable with the lower center of gravity than the other type but will it do the job needed?

generally the ones that look like three cones put together would be more for dry bulk trandsport and th regular tank looking ones would be liquid. I don't know much but was considering a job pulling one for oilfield work around here.

The lower profile tanker looking ones still have 2-3 cones in them also but are ganged in a way or covered in a way they look more like one solid long tank.Last edited: May 26, 2008

These are the only ones I'm familiar with. I hauled plastic pellets used in injection molding with this 4 hopper pneumatic tank.

That picture is the kind i see around here also.Look in truck paper under pneumatic trailers and you can see the other type im wondering about.
Isnt this the site that its a no no to post links? -
Not supposed to post links to other trucking sites.

i haul cement and ash in a heil tank, 3 compartments. i think it is pretty stable, after a few miles the powder will settle. i would think it would be nothing like liquid. i like the work, nothing to it, unless ya stop up, then it gets testy.
