Can somebody please explain, how a pair of 25 year olds back in 2013, who had absolutely no CDL or experience in logistics, manage to pull something as big as Arrive Logistics off?

I like "rags to riches" stories, and I have read numerous articles about them and their origination story, wanting to learn how they adapted, improvised, and overcame the adversities associated with starting your own business from nothing, but nothing too special has been said. I can't comprehend how they have managed to be so successful in an industry that they knew nothing about, via offering a service that was really no different than services already being offered.

If I had to say, they were just born into money, and with that were able to just hire experts to do all of the heavy lifting. Similar to what Amazon and Elon Musk have done, by venturing aggressively into numerous industries that are greatly diverse, which they are not experts of. But that is ok, because they can compensate for their ignorance via money, and just hire other people to do all of the heavy lifting.

You overlooked, they both worked at Command Transportation, a brokerage firm in Chicago.

Don’t underestimate Matt Pyatt’s intelligence. People like him look at things from an analytical perspective, without emotion. That is a huge key to success.

Mannish Patel is a key person, bringing the money and business/revenue. Without Namish and Nutrabolt, those two guys probably wouldn’t have pursued brokerage on their own.

Every successful person I’ve ever met, had at least one person who assisted their trajectory.

Surround yourself with smarter people than yourself and you will be successful if you have the drive. Other than the last 4 years I have always been around a great team and very smart owners. I always got the credit from the owner but he understood that same thought. Drive can replace smartness with the right people around.

The guy I worked for always seen me starting my own business and being doing very well for myself with the drive I had. Well health issues and a little bit of personal issues took my drive away. I have managed very well on my own but not to the point I could. If I had the drive I had back then I would have a 100 plus fleet.

Well, the CEO tore the roof off of the U Haul he was driving on a low bridge when they were moving from Chicago to Austin so if you haven't done that before, you're one up on him.

They didn't reinvent anything, they had plenty of case studies to reference and the investment backing to weather the mistakes and grow. They're some smart guys with the confidence, energy, and the soft skills needed to succeed. I think there's plenty of room in the industry for several more of these but in my opinion, the fragmentation of the industry is an advantage to the drivers and especially O/O's. Heavy consolidation would be bad news for the O/O.

Regarding what you wrote, did you already know that stuff, or did you gather that just today from the articles I referenced?

I see how Mannish Patel is a key person. How I understand they met, is that Pyatt created a product (Vortex), and partnered with Patel/Nutrabolt to sell. But that product ultimately failed, per Pyatt's admission. Yet, Mannish calls on Pyatt further down the road, and makes investment capital readily available for Pyatt's next venture? Pyatt must have made a really good impression on Mannish, in order to have still had Mannish's trust following Pyatt's failure.

    From the linked articles.

I quickly realized the dynamic of how this succeeded, as I’ve worked for/around some very successful people. Since I love stories, I’ve always asked how they made it. There were always consistencies, with all of them, which is basically the same way this went down.

They hire a lot of ESL people to answer the phones. They must work from home. Children crying/toilets flushing in the background, inaccurate pick up numbers, never want to tell us what product we are picking up. Not my favorites.

Believe it or not, XPO has been really good to work with on the phone. We get good freight from them.

The way of the world, unfortunately.

My daughter is in charge of just over 100 employees, with most working from home. She said it’s like babysitting adults. They don’t want to dress appropriately for their work day (they’re on camera), struggle to get them out of bed to actually log-in for work (they have flex schedules), get them to remain on-duty at their work stations (constant household distractions), and the list goes on. I couldn’t do it.
