Hey all could use some help. Looking to move a bob tail truck upon purchase soon from a place that does not provide temporary tags after purchase and is out of my home state; Ohio. Not sure what I need to move it and make sure it doesn't get towed once its parked.
I do not have my own authority and plan to lease/sign it on but haven't gotten that far yet.
I just need to be able to legally operate it from a couple states away and park it with registration until its signed on and also move it to and from the shop for decals etc.

Call someone like classic truck insurance out of Knoxville, They’ll do like a 30 day temp insurance unladen. You have a bill of sale right?

Here in Commiefornia, I just paid for a temporary moving permit and google for a temporary one way insurance move. And last, just used wide tape on the door and wrote”NOT FOR HIRE”.

    CruzControhl2 and exhausted379 Thank this.

Up in SD when you title a vehicle, by state law (according to local DMV at least) you gotta get a registration. I just did a 3 month on it as a personal vehicle with a 12 ton tag and taped not for hire to the door. Cost me $200.

Then as everyone else said a lot of places will sell temporary insurance for 1 way or short term moves for fairly cheap. Just do that and leave the temp plate on it and no one will bother it.

    CruzControhl2 Thanks this.

Load it on an RGN and then you don't have to worry about it

As long as it's insured, you should be fine. Have your bill of sale/title with you.

    Moved plenty that way
