I just installed a Pittsburgh Power 5" in and out muffler on my 91 Ford L9000, with a 11.1 Series 60. Here's my findings:

    1. It's loud while revving and driving, but quiet at idle just like any other muffler.
    2. Acceleration is improved
    3. Maybe an odd coincidence, but engine temp is up and oil pressure is slightly down. Not really an issue.
    4. The inside of the muffler is clearly high flow compared to the old muffler. My old muffler sounded like a rain stick it has rust and soot in it, probably the original muffler. It was rusting out inside.

For those considering it, I'd recommend it. Price is reasonable. They make it in a loud and quiet, if you don't like loud then get the quiet, because this is loud. Maybe not loud in the truck, but if you don't want to wake the neighbors and attract attention, get the quiet flow!!

Over all, fuel mileage should go up, I have better throttle response and it's not as loud or obnoxious as a straight pipe. Once you start cruising on the highway, it really doesn't appear loud in the cab. Only during acceleration do I notice it.

I got a pair of Walker Megaflow 5" in and out high flow mufflers, delivered to the house, for a total cost of $226 from Summit Racing. 7 year warranty on them from Walker.

Yeah PP should grind the Donaldson name and part # M100463 off before they jack the price and sell them as their own.

Thanks for the info. I just wanted a quality muffler, no knock offs. That is why I choose them. I like their work, Bruce seem's to be an okay guy to me. This is my only dealing with them. Noted for Summit Racing, good info thanks! By the way Cowpie, when did you install those Mufflers? When you got your truck or well after? Any difference in power? MPG's?

I did a high way trip bob tailing at 58 MPH in West Texas and New Mexico, my Pro Link was averaging 16 MPG trip miles for my DDEC II. Love my 11.1. I put 30 gallons of diesel in, as my tank was on empty. There is still a reading on the gauge. I know, not the most accurate way. I have no idea what I was getting before these mufflers, as this was my first highway trip.

I emailed Bruce with a few questions and he responded with in the hour, and even answered my follow up just as quick. I'd pay the extra to support PP regardless of if its the same product. Its not that high priced on PP's website.

    freightlinerman Thanks this.
