I saw on the sign post in Rochelle Ill Road Ranger at the top and Pilot underneath. Later I heard talk on the radio that Pilot bought out Road Ranger.

Anyone know what the real skinny is?

They told me in Princeton, IL, that they sell Pilot fuel and accept the points card and honor showers. However, they are not actually Pilots. Might be alot like the Bosselman deal.

I was told at the new road ranger /pilot truck stop in Dixon , Ilinois that the two companies have merged into one . As an add on the. Truck stop off of the Chicago -Kansas City expressway in Dixon will be expanded using pilot money; the restaurant will be bigger and a truck wash will be added!

This was a true merger, not a buyout. Road Ranger accepted stock in lieu of money.
Leaves them with a seat on the board and some say in the whole company.
    Same with Bosselman.
Pilot seems to be seeking out some experience with these moves.
    Maybe there's hope after all.

Working with Pilot seems to be a good way for some of the smaller chains to survive the economy blues.

This could be a good thing, or they want to corner the market. If you ever go through Rockford, IL on I-90/39, up north by Beloit, WI there is Flying J... Through Rockford and the suburbs there are numerous Road Ranger gas stations. South on I-39 at the Baxter Rd exit is a Pilot.

The only Road Ranger locations combined with Pilot are the ones that have truck fueling, the regular gas stations have remained Road Ranger, and the stores have not followed the Pilot model, either. They carry their own line, nothing about Pilot unless it's some merchandise, the coffee is still the old Road Ranger boiler compound, in the ones I have checked.

I used to drive out of Waterloo, IA, the Road Ranger/Pilot across from Harrison Freightliner has a good restaurant open 24 hrs, the Flying J south of the FL shop doesn't have a restaurant at all.

No Dennys anywhere in that area that I know of. La Crosse, WI doesn't have one, either, that I know of. Please feel free to correct me if you know of 1 near either of these 2 communities.

There is a truck stop there off I-39 on Baxter RD but it's not a Pilot.
It's called Shell Express Lane, it has a long hours deli with seating inside, and a fair selection of C-store merchandise, there is a CB business in the same building in a small room in the back.
