What can I buy to make my cell phone hands free and hear my calls through the truck speaker. I don't want to wear a headset. I just want to use the speakerphone.

You'll need a bluetooth entertainment radio along with QUALITY noise canceling hardware in the radio, and a microphone designed for the noisier environments of a truck cab. Also a "loud, booming" voice helps a lot otherwise a weak voice does not pick up well by the mic over all the other ambient noise.

Truthfully, in a truck, everything has to be optimal for hands free, non-headset telephone communication to work well. Mic has to be a good one with the proper amount of gain and in the right location, must have outstanding noise-cancelling, need an especially quiet truck.

    Wild Murphy Thanks this.

So this is possible, and simple, as long as I am willing to pay more for quality.

all you need is an aux wire plugged from the phone into the aux port in the truck. found at all truckstops now. $4.99.

i also have a dock to mount my phone. someone cals me, i just hit the answer button.

but if you want to be fancy, the other ideas are good too. i just don't have the need to buy a bluetooth anything yet.

I took the clip off.....put some 3m mounting tape on the back...and stuck it to the left of the light over the steering wheel...when I need to recharge it....plug the charger cord from lighter to it....so i can leave the speakerbox mounted ...and not take it down...the 3m mounting tape is in office supply section of walmart....if you buy from amazon....you can try it..and if it doesnt do what you want...their return policy is easy..to get a refund

Seriously? That easy? I have the port for the auxiliary wire. I will try this tomorrow. Thanks so much.

I've seen some BT enabled stereo head units in the car stereo rack at Wal-Mart that I've been considering trying out in the pickup to see if they'd be worth installing in the Mack. I've got the Cobra 29BT in there now and it does OK in the winter when the windows are rolled up, but in the summertime when the 3/70 air is cranked up, it is pretty useless. I don't talk much on the thing anyway and can't stand headsets...more or less it just keeps me from getting a hefty fine if a cop happens to see me taking a call from somebody on an EXTREMELY short list of folks worth talking to while I'm trying to work. Of course if you're the type of person who prefers to leave the windows up year 'round, then the Cobra 29BT or a BT enabled car stereo might be more useful.

The problem with a lot of headsetless systems is that the farther away from your mouth the microphone is located, the less "noise canceling" it can do while still picking up your voice, which translates into more background noise. The farther the speaker is from your ears, the louder it has to be for you to hear it. So, when you have a mic that doesn't cancel much noise so that it can pick up your voice, and you combine that with audio being played through the truck stereo's speakers, you'll get complaints from people you are talking to that they can hear themselves back through your phone.
