The tables(seemingly) have turned and i must be totally fair.
Now, in the past, as you may know i condemned this place due to unsanitary conditions as well as boneheaded managment decisions.
In fact, here is the thread:
http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...-update-bordentown-petro-is-filthy-nasty.html
But what happened is i was running hot and heavy in the area lately and it was getting late; i knew i would not make it to carney's point J before they shut the buffet down. So for some reason i decided to go to bordentown to eat---i don't know why---i guess i was very tired and hungry?
Well, what a suprise---the buffet and menu items impressed me and the service seems a little better.
So, i've upgraded them to 6.5ish to 7ish out of 10.
You still have to pay to park after 2 hrs i believe. But there are usually spaces available.
Make no mistake--they still have a long way to go as far as improvments, but they have made a little progress.

Dont know what ever came of iy but he did return my call a few days later to say it had been handled

In the couple of times i was at this Petro, i found it to be relatively decent. Definitely not the worst truck stop i have spent a weekend at.

It's not a truck stop but if you are hungry in the Bordentown, NJ area try the Town & Country Diner on 130 N. When I lived in Jersey we went there quite a bit, even had Easter dinner there a few times.
HFC Thanks this. -
hell i use to run bordentown to grandforks about 2 years ago and u could find a parkin spot,..i went threw there in july and there were trucks everywhere,..they were over in the bobtail section parked out in the grass,..has it changed in the last few months???
-
Not really... got to get in early to get a space or get creative. The Pilot is a postage stamp, and there's not a whole lot else.
Same situation with the TA down in Paulsboro. Last couple of times I pulled in there after dark, I ended up parking over in the entrance to the truckwash.LooneyTune Thanks this. -
i didn't notice any trucks in the grass. There still is a "healthly" bobtail section in front.
One thing about this place is you can, sort of, pretty much always find a place to park if you get creative.
i'm not sure if they are still charging to park, however. -
The Petro charges... Pilot doesn't.

We talk about NJ truck stops and you wonder why they don't expand. As it turns out, that last female governor that President Bush put as head of the DOT, when she was governor she signed a law that stated no expansions or new truck stops in the state! This was just before Bush became President. The TA in Bloomsbury was going to buy the land around the the truck stop to expand but they were to late and couldn't buy it due to that law. The same with the Pilot at Bordentown when the old stop beside them went out of business. I now understand that some of the truck stops are fighting to get it rescinded. Talk about an anti truck state but please feel free to spend your money on tolls and anything else but get the hell out!
That's why I'll beat my self to death on Hwy 1 and I 95 just to keep from paying NJ toll money! To bad Pa charges you that "escape tax" when trying to get the heck out!LooneyTune Thanks this.
