Alright. I think I know what the answer to this question is going to be, but I'd like to get other peoples' takes on it.
I'm currently with a company that has me in a 2015 Volvo.
I'm thinking of joining a company that would put me into a 2017 Peterbilt.
My main concern is the issue with WBV, or whole body vibration. There have been several studies linking vibration to fatigue and general health concerns. I skimmed this one by Rand:
https://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/research_reports/RR1000/RR1057/RAND_RR1057.pdf
What would your opinion be between the two trucks? My Volvo experience has been very smooth, with minimal vibration/noise. I've not been in a 2017 Peterbilt. Does anyone have experience between the two that they'd like to share?
My thanks in advance!

I have a Pete 579 now but had a Volvo 780 last. Volvo was the better ride but if it's the 670 Volvo then the ride is pretty much the same

I've heard Volvo has the ride thing figured out pretty well. I only ever drove one Volvo, and it was a 1995, and pretty tired (farm truck). It did ride rather nice for the condition it was in though. I have an uncle who has a small fleet of milk tankers, and he swears by Volvo. He has some Petes and Kenworths, but he claims his driver's prefer the Volvo.
I haven't been in any new Pete's, but the ones I did drive were either horrible, or just OK. They were all 379's. I was never impressed by the ride.
I'm sure I'll get some hate mail for saying that, but whatever.CorsairFanboy, Brettj3876 and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
Hey! Thanks all for the replies! That's not what I expected. You seem to be leaning toward the Volvo for a smoother ride, even though it's an older truck. I was expecting you-all to say that the newer the truck (even though it's a Pete), the smoother the ride.

My dads 93 ch rides like glass -
Camelback! I kid you not. Had a longer wheelbase, so that helped.
I ran a 95 CH daycab for a few years. Thing rode like a dream. My only complaint on that was if you got too heavy on the brakes, it felt like the cab was gonna flip front. -
If you want the smoothest ride, you can't beat a C R England, Freight Liner that is park on the shoulder waiting for a tow.
