As I recall, the last time I replaced the kingpins at a dealer it cost around $1,600. If you can find a dependable independent shop, you should do better. I did have kingpins replaced at a local shop and paid a lot less, but don't remember the cost.

Unless he is boring the axle and putting a sleeve in it, while the pins are out that's awful high in my opinion. They can usually be done in 6 to 8 hours depending on if you bought the kaiser no reams or the factory bushings that require reaming to fit.

It usually takes 4-5 hrs. Book time is always high it seems. I think last set I did I charged about about 400 in labor.

Your looking about another 4-5 hrs. And if you do mounts, pins and rear bushing (I rarely see front bushing in spring wore out) its around 5-600 in parts. So around a 1000 bill.

Back when KW started using those junk rubber spring pin bushings on the steer axle a lot of guys converted back to the threaded greasable style pins. Independent shop I worked at we could swap out all 6 pins and bushings in about 4-5 hours. We got a lot of business because it took the dealer nearly twice as long.

Just did the rear hanger and the hanger and pins where around $100.00 from a spring shop on my Pete 359. Took me 2 hrs. but was on the passenger side. Could have been done in less time.
