Hey all, currently I’m running a 2015 Cascadia and she has 935,000 miles on the clock. I feel it’s time to let it go and I’ve been looking at a 2019 Peterbilt 579 455 hp MX-13 with Paccar 12 speed auto with 330k miles. It’s Red oval certified as well if that means anything. I know the earlier MX engines had issues with emissions and misc items. Just need to know what I can expect after this tractor gets passed the 500k miles mark. I will purchase premium 2000 warranty as well. thank you for your time.

Dont. Just dont. MX13s are garbage tier junk. Even the new ones are still overpriced locked down crap that is going to spend as much time in the shop cost many times as much and as as like not as not to be shop qieens soon as the first emissions issues pop up. Go detroit or cummins.

The engine itself is great and reliable. Its all the absolute garbage attached to it that will bankrupt you. There is a reason paccars go cheaper then other rigs. Also from experince the warranty is a scam and the certified is also crap. Moreso if its from rush or MHC that warranty is worse less then used toilet paper.

That all said im also extrodinarially baised agaisnt them. Go see my new owner thread if you want to see an ongoing list of all the #### this one threw at me. But i think you will be hard pressed to find anyone who will recomend a MX13 powered rig. Oh and also as someone with a 455 horse mx13 they are EXTREMELY underpowered even compared to other 450 horse engines just something in how they run. Ive used mine alongside my friends big cam 400 and it will consistantly out pull me with more weight as insult to injury.

That said i am HEAVILY biased. So take what i say with a grain of salt.

Currently if you have an ECM go on MX13, there are supposedly none available. My buddy was down for 6 weeks. They finally had his repaired instead. Said it’s a 50-50 shot.

That red oval means nothing. He bought and financed through Peterbilt and they wouldn’t do ANYTHING for him. Not even a discount on a rental.

Ran a 2022 with x15 efficiency and 12 speed. Thing is garbage. Engine issues, electrical issues, transmission issues 250k miles. 2022 was a Covid build so no clue if they sourced parts from whoever and wherever….Switch over to a 2017 that I recovered for our company. X15 efficiency looking at spec it’s 400hp 10 speed Eaton Fuller auto with 650K miles. Cleaned it up real good. Been running it for 10k miles and she runs great. I am sure she will be gone soon though since she is so old for our fleet.

Talking with a buddy you may want to talk directly with some bed bug companies depending on what you want to spec. He said his company has 6-7 year old trucks, 250-300 k miles, rarely loaded heavy, low idle time they do hotels mostly.
