If you have enough wheelbase it is possible. I have never done that just took them off. Is it cost effective? Probably better to buy a different truck.
Well lets thank out of the box and back up a few years. Clarence had a 4000 White butterfly hood with an add on dungeon sleeper, 24 inches I thank. It probably would not have been so bad but he had not cut out the cab to match the sleeper opening. It was near the fuel island and I heard an odd sound and asked about it. No that's just Clearance. He is hung up here for the weekend and just walked back from the bar, feel through the window into the dungeon, he will be fine.
Joe told me he saw a F model Mack day cab sleeper at a fuel stop in OK. When he came in the cab was up and the guy was wrenching on it. He said the sleeper was made out of plywood, square box mounted on the frame but the paint matched. Let the cab down, put a large tire tube between the cab and sleeper, inflated it and drove away.
Just food for thought but I would go with plan A, buy up.Ruthless Thanks this. -

I was at the steam show in Mt. Pleasant Iowa 9 years ago and saw a pickup slide in on a Freightliner classic if I recall correctly. Any thing is possible

The unibilt comes in two can models. Ultra cab and flat top. The unltra cab is taller and the sleeper hole is taller. If the truck was once a sleeper and made a daycab than the job won't be that bad. If it's factory day cab don't thinks it's worth the time and money to do the job.

It can be done. Knew a guy once that turned a short hood day cab into a long hood flat top. Moved the cab back 8" I believe to make the long hood work. He also had left the factory day cab air ride on to help support the added weight of the 63" sleeper.

Thanks for the replies seems like I'm just going to sell the daycab and look for a sleeper. It is factory ultra cab. It never had a sleeper

On the upside nice day cabs always fetch good coin. You may come out with a similar sleeper truck with a little cash left over.
Ridingsxrs, Bean Jr. and BoxCarKidd Thank this. -
Bump.
Anyone else running a day cab Peter with a unibilt 36"?
