You must call ahead to the port then go to port and buy your permit. Don't forget to call or they will make your life miserable
-
What old man said
Get your clearance number before you enter the state.. can get costly if you don't -
Our company gave us a sheet with all the phone numbers to the various ports on it. Highlighted on the top is the phrase "Call two hours beforehand, DO NOT GO INTO WYOMING WITHOUT A CLEARANCE NUMBER!!!"
-
It isn't strictly necessary but I think they like closer to 24 hours of advance notice...
I've been through there and seen them really dressing a guy down for just showing up and trying to get the permit. Apparently that was a big problem with the company that that guy worked for, and they cop had just told another guy from that company the day before that he wasn't giving any more warnings to that company...
15 minutes later he let the guy go with a warning, the really seriously last warning that company will ever get.... -
Like Jumbo said, call before entering the state. they'll get pissy about that too. Saw them chew a guy out in front of me and telling him it's an $1800 ticket.
-
Yep, $1800 sounds about right.
SERIOUSLY though, Why they gotta be like that. Just issue a DA-- permit. -
Liability issues. In case you get hit or you do something stupid. The lawyers would have a field day on the no permit or clearance to travel
catalinaflyer Thanks this. -
I've called a day in advance and called just before crossing the state line, never had anyone say anything to me about it.
You "can" get a permit without going to the port, they can be purchased over the phone like on holidays when your legal to run but the ports are closed, you have to buy it over the phone before the port closes.
Now when you get into "super" loads as defined by the state of Wyoming the rules all change. -
