Does anyone drive for these guys? I spoke with a warehouse worker who was a very professional young guy. He said they needed drivers. Money sounded good. The work sounded hard but it is the same thing I am used to. He said they had some overnight runs but some of the guys were home every night. Some night, early a.m. work.

Any thoughts from anyone who drives or has driven/worked for them?
    Thanks.

Haven't worked for them , but worked for GSF for over 30 years doing the same thing , delivering fast restaurants ( McDonald's specifically). The guy was correct about it being labor intensive , it's that and then some. Sounds kinda like the same schedule make-up too , some layover runs , but most drivers are home daily. The foodservice industry isn't a bad deal at all , as long as you don't mind sorta tight delivery windows and multiple stop loads. The pay is usually really good , and company benefits are too. I ran three days a week 2 long trips 300 + miles and 1 short trip around 100 miles each week. Ran the 1st long one on Monday ( around 13 to 14 hours ) , then the shorter one on Tuesday ( only 9 hours or so depending on traffic) then off on Wednesday , then the same long trip on Thursday....usually a total of 35 to 37 hours weekly. Off Friday , Saturday and Sunday.....grossed a little over 70 ,000 the last full year I worked , 2010. Retired in November of 2011 and haven't looked back.

    Tonythetruckerdude,

Thanks for the reply and the breakdown of your experience. It sounds like what I expect. Pretty good pay, to boot.

I hauled several loads of frozen cakes out of there. Most of the loads I picked up went to Publix warehouses all over Florida. Really nice people working there; at least the ones I met. Sometimes it took 6-8 hours to get loaded, but I didn't care because was getting detention pay after 1 hour. Get hungry, just walk a block to Uncle Pete's Truckstop for a good meal. Is Uncle Pete's still open?
