Hello all. I have a interview coming up with this company and would like to get a little more insight on your miles, areas ran, equipment and home time please. Throughout the application process they seem to genuinely care about their drivers. Upon searching the internet there is not much about them out there. I heard that they have opened up a new Dc in Leesport Pa. Is that effecting the miles? Leesport is pretty close to NYC, and most other points in the North East. Any insight would be much appreciated.

my brother inlaw used to run their truck maint shop for Purdue in Salisbury, Md,,he told me Purdue was very cheap, cheap to the point of being real real cheap,
About 30 years ago I talked to them about hauling and their rates were too cheap for me too
Jobs on the eastern shore no matter who you work for are very low.Mr klean2k12 Thanks this. -
they were always known for being picky about their trucks and drivers
at one time you needed 5 years experience
they had their own truck wash every truck had to go thru before leaving the yard
but this all was in 2010 -
Thanks fellas! I figured they would be rather picky on who they hire. It just seems that over the past couple years they have been hiring a awful lot. Not sure if that's from some of the veteran guys retiring or from some changes they have been going through.

315 you are right about the job market down this way. Always have been rather low paying unless you find the right niche. Ive always been told that private fleets are the way to go anymore.

Lived in Berlin,Md in the late 90's and drove for Georgia Pacific before they closed up shop.Talked to a few of the Perdue company drivers who said it wasn't too bad there.Mostly NE but they did ok.Again this was the late 90's and the eastern shore doesn't really have much else going on.
Mr klean2k12 Thanks this. -
I appreciate the insight. From what I hear Perdue is a good outfit to work for. When I drove for Reed I used to see them up in NYC a lot. Just want to make sure they are not starting to go by the wayside like other good companies. 5 to 6 years back they used to very rarely advertise for their OTR division. Now they advertise atleast once a month it seems like. Not sure if that should be a red flag or not.

while the chicken business is growing -
Yeah that's a good point. They have dropped their experience level a few times over the years and I imagine the shortage of drivers has a lot to do with it. My interview is Wednesday and could be a game changer for me and the family.

They do take care of the OTR drivers for the most part. Business is expabding is why alot of hiring. Usually home once a week, sometimes less, sometimes more. Local driving is a different story on being cheap, i cant even get the a/c fixed and its been 100 out. Also, trucks governed at 62
Mr klean2k12 Thanks this.
