So, ive never quite understood how one is being paid when its off of the line haul...

Theres a company that I've talked to and they start at 22% of line haul, then after 3 months it goes to 23% and up to 25% after so much time... So my question is, is the line haul dollar amount that I would be getting paid out of just the gross transportation cost that the companys contracted rate states? Or am I missing a few things? :dontknow:

No, your right... You would be paid 22% of the gross line-haul being paid to the carrier for that particular load. TMC will start you out at 26%, at least they did in 2011. I had no experience and had the Hazmat endorsement, along with a passcard and twic.

Just verify that what I said is true for that particular carrier, they should tell you gross or net, I have never heard of anyone paying off the net but, ask anyway, so you know.

Remember it's the percentage of whatever they tell you it is. In other words, 22% of nothing is still nothing.

linehaul is what they charge to haul the load; gross linehaul is linehaul + fuel surcharge. the fuel surcharge is the company's money, not yours since ur not the one paying for the fuel. so for example if a load pays $650 gross & the linehaul is $500, u get ur percentage off the $500 not the $650.

yep, fuel comes out first. companies would go broke if they paid percentage of gross.

I would have to know what the rate was before FSC before I would ever take percentage again and I wouldn't trust my employer to tell me what is was.

Pay me by the mile and give me detention pay.

Yeah, that was one of the questions I forgot to ask them.. if the drivers are.allowed to to see the rates, just to make sure that im getting a true 22%.

What's drivers' experiences with percentage on what the amount the percentage is applied to? Is it usually paid on linehaul plus FSC or just linehaul? I am trying to compare apples with apples.

    More bad information.

Fuel doesn't have to come out of drivers pay for a company to stay in business and do very well.
