Iv recently been looking in to Robertson's ready mix as a mixer driver. But I don't want to let go of my t/t experience. Turns out they have a fleet of belly dump doubles. Those guys get paid per the load. I'm not sure how that works. Any info or wisdom is welcome. I'm also assuming driving a mixer truck doesn't count as truck experience right.
Percent pay per load? Can I make a living? Robertson's ready mix.

Yeah, Robertsons has bottom dumps to feed their plants as well as powder trains and transfers, and mixers too. The bottom dumps pay a flat rate per trip. Probably 12 hr days, but home nightly. All Macks for bottom dumps, Petes for mixers/transfers. They're all over S. Cal from Otay mesa to Irwindale. I think you're lucky to make $135 day gross, but don't quote me. Ask them. Bottom dumps run 24/7. FYI

The outfit I'm going to work for pays 27% for end dumps and they guarantee $800/week minimum for the first 60 days. Ops manager told me the average driver makes 52K a year, with some drivers making up to 70K. He also said the percentage averages out to about .50cpm. Don't know if that helps answer your question or not.
As far as the experience, some companies count it, some don't. I drove a straight tanker for 7 years, so I can relate.Moz_ Thanks this. -

Depends on the rates. I work by % and make anywhere from $125-270 a day depending on which plant I'm hauling to.
