Good Lord, animal, run in the opposite direction!!! While I'm sure Penske does regular maintenance on their trucks, generally, rental trucks are run by less than experienced drivers, and who knows what atrocities they've endured. Best place to get a decent truck, is find an O/O hanging up the keys,( I'm sure dozens quit every week) and you'll be able to find out everything that was done to it . Good Luck.

500 bucks is nothing in the price of a truck. You could probaly negotiate 500 bucks better else ware. Dont let the 500 bucks decide where you buy your truck

Depending on the engine and DPF set up you would be guaranteed to need that $500 to get that engine worked on....I know, the company I work for has one that has been in the shop for a week. As semi stated, there are plenty of other places to find a truck and just try negotiating the price down first. If that isnt your thing surely you have the one buddy that could sell ice to the eskimo...take him to negotiate down your price.

From my experience. Just two weeks ago was trying to buy Prostar from Penske.
    1. You can find same trucks with better price.
    2. Financing is not fair they wont disclose APR until you agree to buy certain truck.
    3. Maintenance records looks suspicious to me, some trucks have DPF cleaned/replaced every 10k miles.
4.Sales person phone line was busy everyday all day long.
    Probably it's my luck.

Penske is overpriced like all lease companies. With the exception of warranty work they try to spend as little money per truck. They are a business. When I was a company driver i drove for Aim. Every year service intervals got pushed out without any oil samples. Thier mechanics are the same as the ones at the TA.

    I would go elsewhere.

I agree with pound puppy. I drive a truck leased through Ryder and it's a piece of ####. I keep it clean inside that's it. Maintenance is lacking terrible. Instead of fixing the problem they put a band aid in it. This truck hasn't been aligned in god knows how long. And keeps chewing steers. A/c is semi functional. I do hear Penske does a better job.
