I recently purchased a 26ft box truck from Penske that they claim was "Premium". I didnt have this truck more than a week when the check engine light came on and the front head light was out. The head light was an electrical issue because the bulb was good. When I opened up the headlight area I could smell something burning and tell it had been rigged and was not the original set up. Because I was within my 15 days they had me come in and supposedly fixed everything. Few weeks later check engine light is on again and head light out again. Same electrical issue, except this time no one at penske will even respond to my emails or return my calls about the issues. Even the financing was an issue. I was told that taxes were included in the financing but when I went to the DMV to get it plated they had not sent a check for the entire amount, was short over $900. Person I spoke to tried to blame me for it then again dark silence, no response. I have sent 6 emails and made multiple calls now to multiple people with no response. The customer service is horrible and it is clear that the ignoring is intentional. I'm a new business trying to get off the ground and provide for my family, Penske doesn't care about the people. I paid over 36k and now I am stuck with a lemon. I would strongly urge people to avoid this company. Truck 669929.

Lemon laws might protect u aswell as dwpt of consumer affairs and contract laws.

But some things odd about ur story is that u didnt mention why penske blamed u. U said u went to dmv to do plates when most dealers do that for u. Thus u might of double pawed for that losing 900. Even so penske should fix the issue.

If it's not in writing & the 15 days are up your SOL. My new Pete had the same issue but after 3 headlight replacements they finally replaced the harness to the light & no issues since.
Don't think the lemon law applies because you bought with a 15 day warranty & the truck is used which usually means as is unless otherwise noted
Premium is a sales gimmick . It's a used truck.

Under the law of most states, for a vehicle to be considered a lemon, the car must 1) have a "substantial defect," covered by warranty, that occurs within a certain time after purchase, and 2) continue to have the defect after a "reasonable number" of repair attempts.

Did you take it to a trusted mechanic for a once over? Or did you go on Penske's word?

At one time I drove a lot of Penske trucks.

One day they put me in a box truck that had 900 miles on it. I turn the key on and all the lights went crazy. I started the truck and all the lights on the dash the headlights the flashers everything started going insane.

When I took the truck to Penske he said a lot of times those trucks have problems like that and they can't fix them so they have to send it back to the dealer.

He said that is why they get rid of the trucks by the time that the warranty will be up.

The red flag for me about used trucks is this.

    1. If used trucks are such a great deal, how come the major carriers don’t buy them instead of new trucks?

    2. How come the major carriers get rid of their trucks at around 300k - 500k miles?

I was required to talk to the L/P guy at my last gig even thought I made it clear I wasn’t interested.

The first question I asked when dude would finished with his spill was “If these trucks are such a great deal, why doesn’t the company keep them?”.

That was met with a bumbling, stumbling, trip over his tongue response.

Have you taken a close look at the drivers at major carriers?
Most can't take a piss without checking with their DM.
You think they're gonna take care of a piece of equipment?

There's a WE flat bed that just pulled in here, that's probably a year old going on 10 years. It's beat to #### already.

I worked at a small company in Phoenix that buys used Prime trucks in the 200K mile range.

There's not one there that doesn't have body damage.

Out of 50 drivers, maybe 2 do pre trips.

I asked when I started," So you guys buy a truck, then roll it down a hill to put it on the fleet?"
