FedEx Freight nixed the pension for those hired after 1/1/20. However, you now receive 8% match to your 6% in 401k. I'd rather that anyway.

 

I would never trust a company pension. Way too many times I've heard of companies falling on hard times and stop paying the pensions of their retirees.

 

How does a pension work when the company goes under, look at how many companies have gone under in the last couple years. I wouldn't want to be counting on money from my previous employer while trying to keep gas in the fishing boat.

 

Some friends of mine are receiving $159.00 a month as pension from a company that went bankrupt.
Pension was turned over to (shown below) and that outfit determines how much you get, if anything.
