Pennsylvania Hazmat Routing

I would do 80-322.

 

From Cleveland to York? I'd definitely be running 80/322/83. The tolls on 76 are ludicrous, and you gotta detour around the tunnels anyways. It'll be quicker to hop on 80 and hammer down

Btw that load of fireworks may be going to my brother's place. He's planning a huge 4th of July deal...

 

You'll have to exit the turnpike at Somerset and take PA-31 east to US 30, then take I70 east as there's truck restrictions on 30 east of Breezewood. 80 to 99 to 322 is the easiest route. Not to mention the weather on 31 this time of year is unpredictable. I've ran that route when it was 40 degrees in Somerset and it was 20 on top of the mountain with 6 inches of snow, all within 15 miles

 

how heavy? 31 around Allegheny tunnel is obnoxiously steep and takes forever. I did it for fun to waste like 15 gallons and an hour for no reason. by fun i mean didn't realize you can in fact take class 9 bulk through the tunnels. just saw the sign and got off on instinct

 

Believe it or not if you're heading to I70 it's actually quicker to take route 31 to 30 as opposed to running through the tunnel. I've been passed by trucks pulling the hill before Somerset, then passed again by the same trucks on I70 east of Breezewood many times. The main reason is you avoid that cluster of red lights in Breezewood and all the S-curves on the pike after the tunnel

 

I was on 76 heading west to Wilmington Ohio and I just happened to see the hazmat sign last minute. I got off of 76 and quickly found this post in my Google results and the directions that y'all gave really came in handy. Thank you people and stay blessed!
