A trucker told me that he read some where in the green safety regulations pocket book that if you stop and check your brakes an hour or so before a must stop brake check area, you dont have to stop. Can someone confirm if this is true or not and if so what page would it be on in the safety book?

I did my PTI yesterday, does that mean I am safe today? A lot can happen in a hour.

Truck Stop Lawyer BS... ...that will get you a ticket sure enough. He probably pegged you for a rookie and figured you'd believe it. I fell for the old "US Marshalls" BS with lumpers back when I was a newb, lol... -
Say for example I was driving on the I-80 from reno and got a level 2 inspection at the weight station in Truckee and then later I passed the all trucks must stop brake check area through donner and a chp stopped me and gave me a ticket. Could I fight the ticket and have a good chance at getting the case dropped since they inspected and found no problems?

And be sure to note in your log book that you stopped @ the brake check too. -

If you fly by a brake check area your going to get a ticket here in PA the cops like to hide right by those looking for fellas who are in too big of a hurry to stop at those stop signs, though I NEVER heard of logging a stop at a brake check area at the top of a grade.

I always stop for any place that says you must stop in a truck, but I have never logged it. Neither have I logged stopping for red lights, stop signs or stopping to get weighed at a scale (unless I am actually detained for an inspection).

MGFG, how much time are you taking at these brake checks? Are you taking out the creeper and adjusting up all your brakes before you descend the hill or what?
