I am interested to know if there Is a list for the different hot factory injectors or the flow rate per part number on the injectors. Currently I have s BCIII NTC400 from an ex military truck. Esn 11154523 CPL 531 it has #3047973 injectors. I only see #3054233 mentioned in some posts for being a hot injector but maybe too hot for work. Just trying to find a ballpark of what flow rate to start with.
Engine has an HT4B turbo, dual fuel lines, 1" feed line with cooler. #10 button 2450governor, and is intercooled. Air intake/filter unit is 1650cfms. Engine recently dropped a valve on #6 so it is getting an inframe build at the current moment and wanted to do a few things to it to give it some umph while I've got everything apart. Engine had never been built and contained standard liners at teardown.
I am not looking for crazy but looking to take a little pressure off the camshaft.Intothesunset Thanks this. -
Bump with some information from the injector book.
Stock injector on a Big cam I is 3054071 with a stroke/mm3 of 191/193. The same as the injector for a big cam iii part # 3047973
These specs are per the bulletin book 337966423 from cummins
Hot injectors for stepping up would be (lowest to highest with flow)
#305423 - 201/203
#3047980 - 219/221
#3047984/3054233 - 242/244
#3054236 - 259/261Attached Files:

One checking account in the bank with 200K waiting on you to spend them.
And a couple days to get all settled into your IFRA and nominal stickers etc. (Permits) etc.
last step of total of 4....
Go forth into Retail land or very well maintained used trucks land and pick a truck drive the #### thing -
Three of those four injectors you listed are for MVT engines, they are set for increased travel that engines without MVT and the MVT cam do not have.
Putting those in a lower injector travel engine doesn't give the same fuel output as the plunger does not travel as far, not to mention a person that would set them outer base method will have an engine that constantly smokes and puts fuel in the oil as the plunger will never bottom out to stop the fuel flow through the cup.Intothesunset and pushbroom Thank this. -
I played the factory injector swapping game for a while and there are no injectors that are higher flow that match the .224" travel camshaft that the standard big cams have.
Having a set built is the best option. Period.Intothesunset and pushbroom Thank this. -
