are we allowed to park on the street so long as it's not blocking a fire hydrant (or whatever)? are the rules different for a CMV?
I live in fort worth, tx, and there just aren't any truck stops or lots to park the truck during home time. for the short time I've been driving, I've parked on this small street near my house, trying my best to hide it from the police. but now other drivers have found my spot, and more and more trucks are parking there. do I have to worry about getting a ticket/towed? Even though it's not violating any obvious law.

I'm wondering this myself. Where do ya park a 25 odd foot bobtail? I mean if u live in an apt like I do, where do ya put it?

it all depends on the city/town. some have ordinances against it, others are fine with it. no idea about ft worth, though i know there are a few truck stops within several miles of wherever it is in that area you actually are. it may be more miles than you feel like driving though, i dunno.

i have 2 truck stops about 10 miles from my house, and thats where i park. also the local mall has several trucks parked there all the time. my city wont allow on street parking, tho ive seen a couple that dont get bothered...guess they know someone. and...if you are a company driver, dont count on it being a bobtail you have to worry about. i almost always have a trailer attached.

Ft. Worth is truck friendly. However, you need to check if the street is posted and/or there are any ordinances prohibiting truck parking. Some cities actually have an ordinance, but it's not obvious, as in signage. Go figure.........I grew up in Santa Monica, Ca. There was an ordinance prohibiting vehicles over 7' wide or 11' tall parking on city streets......but, it wasn't signed. You only found out AFTER you got a ticket. Also, some cities are OK with trucks, but not overnight.
