I mentioned this in another thread. Yet I used to live in Pasadena and there are some great alternatives for truck parking near Los Angeles that are not too farr off the beaten path. These are alternative parking places than the wonderful truck stops that never seem to have any spots left.

The first one is the Rose Bowl Stadium just north of Pasadena. It sits off the 210 freeway and is only about a half mile away with oodles of parking space. Tho it is a residential area so unless you have a really quiet APU, I dont recommend idling.

Another thought is the Los Angeles Zoo. Tho this suggestion is only for night time as the zoo is open and filled with four wheelers during the day. It is just off the I-5 near Burbank.

The final thought is the Pomona Fair Grounds in Pomona. This one shouldnt have a problem with idling engines. The 210 freeway is about a mile to the north and the i-10 is about 5 miles to the south.

Won't take long for the "NO TRUCK PARKING" signs to go up after they start having to clean up the pee jugs and trash. But you make a good point about there being a lot of parking available that is not in truckstops.

Another spot near San Diego. Not sure of whom San Diego has for a foot ball team. Yet it used to be called Padre Stadium. It is only about 10 miles outside of town.

I dont think you are allowed to park any vehicles or trucks there. Unless you have a permit or making a delivery.

OP when did you park last time near Rose Bowl and Zoo?

BTW I lived in Pasadena from 99 to 2005.. ;-) moved out because of high rent cost.
