This is one of those sneaky companies that pays "good" But in reality it doesn't because they give you a big contract to sign which a bunch of deductions are made from you.
First of all they have an escroll deduction. Which I AM OK WITH. $1,500 deducted in partial payments each week.
That covers possible damage you do to the truck while you're employed with them.
The Problem is they make you sign a contract that automatically FIRES you if you get a speeding ticket in California of any over speed. And also over 6mph in other states. No driver in their right mind is trying to get a speeding ticket. Why should you be punished twice?
It's hard enough you accidentally get a ticket you'll be devastated mentally and financially. Because that affects you in many ways including but not limited to, you paying higher insurance in your personal car. Besides having to deal with a company that tries to milk you because of an unfortunate event.
After all you as the driver are doing the hard stressful work, risking your life everyday in possible accidents or dangerous weather like tornadoes, snow and so on.
While they comfortably sit in a office and go home to the family every day. Reeling in those dollars you make for them.
And once they fire you it goes on your dac record and it will affect you getting hired with other companies you apply with.
So think hard and twice who you sign up with. Read the contract and walk away if they are being extremely prickly. That's a big sign of worst things to come.
Eventually these companies will have gone thru all the available possible experienced drivers and have nobody to hire because of their prickly ways of operating.
The insane deduction list goes on and on. Here are some other things they don't tell you. But surprise you once you are there.
They will fire you if you accidentally have a tire with low air pressure.
There are so many deductions on top of escrow for thousands and thousands of dollars you would be responsible.
And I get it, but many of these things like you forgetting to sign your log you automatically get charged with fees is not right.
Every one of us is trying to get things done. But if you mess up by a little thing because you're human, forget it you'll be paying out the wazooo.
I can go on and on. The list of charges is very long. I strongly believe both sides should be responsible for small accident mishaps. Because it's a fact companies tend to make more money than the employees. But since the employee/driver is gullible enough to sign these contracts they tack more things on it for the driver to sign.
Also they don't say in the contract if it's repetitive you get charged. NOPE they make you sign a contract that says from the very first incident you're going to get squeezed hard for money.
Even if they tell you otherwise verbally that means nothing!! What matters is what you're signing.
