$1.40/mile + fuel surcharge + some bonuses=looks and sounds good.
Here comes deal breaker a bomb !
Lease purchase truck. Lets assume it is new $695 + insurance + qualcomm + + + = around $1060 / week. This number is set number a week.
They have expedite loads meaning you can not get one after another. You get one pick up at a time. Then comes delivery and dreadfull wait time for another load meanwhile if you are lucky being in Prime Service Area you get in a cue waiting for your turn. It might take a day if you are in Prime S A. If you are outside then you have to bug backhaul department to get a broker's number and call them to get a load.
Ok, if you expect miles then you won't get them here with Panther. Period. You get them only if you team up driving straight truck for another owner. But driving 53' will make you go broke.
Let's get back to a simple math.
Assume you get your 2000 miles a week.
    2000×$1.40=$2800
    Fuel surcharge is approximately c.20/mile
    2000×.20=$400
    $2800+$400=$3200 earnings
    Deductions
    2000÷6.5mpg=307.6923 gallons
    307.6923×$2.69/gallon=$828
    $3200-$1060=$2140
    $2140-$828=$1312
Here is a catch ! First of all your 2000 miles will have loaded and empty. But you will get fuel surcharge ONLY for loaded miles and not backhauls. Lets assume that half is ONLY fuel surcharged. It comes out as $200.
    Your $1312 - $200 = $1112.
Your fuel varies as high as $3.00 per gallon in some parts of our country. It will shrink your earnings.
I showed you a perfect case scenario. Realisticly you will make less than 2000 miles a week as solo driver driving 53'.

Ok, it was ideal situation. Normally you will wait for your next load for a day sometimes few. It will make you run for about 1200-1500 miles a week.
If you fall behind your monthly dues it will take you about 2-3 weeks to recover. Meanwhile 2-3 weeks of negative settlements. Remember if you come short somewhat $700 first week then next one will be $1760 ++++fuel !!!

Thanks for warning other potential drivers about your situation, and for providing actual numbers.

Thank you. If drivers don't make they leave. But sometimes it becomes difficult. If driver gets unwillingly in such situation he stays in until he gets somewhat positive outlook in money sence. If I leave I need something to live for a time I get myself with some company hopefully better than Panther.

You are welcome. There is not much if almost nothing about Panther out there online whether it is Youtube or whatelse. Seems like any information get eather suppressed or someone doing team runs in straight truck brags how nice their life is. As I said it is expedite and it is somewhat better for team straight truck NOT for solo 53'. Be aware stay away.

It is indeed. And just because there are big name on a truck it doesn't mean company will not screw you over. They have lawyers who find loopholes through which it is justfied not to fill you up with all information you need in order to make an intellegent decision where to invest your labor, money, time.
