I don't have a CDL, and I could use some help finding the right company to train with. I live in Buffalo, NY (Upstate). Swift offered to send me to a school in Utah. I was wondering if there is anything closer, or with a better company?

If you can afford $500 upfront I'd highly recommend Millis Transfer. We have a terminal in Weedsport but no school there. You'd go to school in Trenton OH(Cincy). Some of the best training out here and pretty sure the pay is higher than any other training companies. But its $100 to reserve a spot in class and then $400 the 1st day of class. Then they take it out of your check at like $30 a week for a yr and then you are free and clear.

Yes, try these two: Jim Palmer Trucking and Wilson Logistics. They train in Springfield, Missouri and Missoula, Montana.
    Here's some more:
    Roehl Transport
    CFI - www.cfidrive.com

The man that owns Wilson Logistics also owns Jim Palmer Trucking.
Both have above average pay scales for new cdl students.
Jim Palmer Trucking is refrigerated coast to coast.
Wilson Logistics is dry van and flatbed.

CFI - www.cfidrive.com - is coast to coast dry van and has a good reputation also.
    Company-paid Tuition
With a 12-month commitment to drive for CFI, qualified students can now receive fully paid tuition to attend driving school in Missouri. We’ll even cover your room and board for the duration of the four-week course.

Lots of great choices here. So it all depends on what your looking for in a company. Do you wanna do reefer? Dry Van? Food service/LTL? No touch freight? Home Everyday? OTR? These are the questions you gotta ask yourself.
