I'm currently living in Phoenix and looking for company paid CDL options I may not know about. I know Swift and Knight both conduct training in Phoenix and Roehl used to but doesn't any more I don't think. Not sure about Schneider. I visited Southwest Truck Driver school the other week and they wouldn't tell me if any companies used them as their local training partner. They just said they work with 130 companies and no self-respecting truck driver would sign a contract for company training. I'm betting quite a few do.
I have no need for home time and being 56 and not in the best shape, OTR either western regional or all 48 would be fine for me, as opposed to something local and having to load and unload or do a warehouse to driver program. I'm leaning towards Knight because they pay during training and it sounds like you only agree to pay for the training if you leave early instead of signing a contract for a year. According to their website, training is $3500 so it shouldn't take long to save that up with no rent, no car payment, no credit card debt etc. I'm not planning to leave as I realize you're better off sticking it out for at least a year, but I do like having options.
Schneider seems to get the better reviews though and I'd probably lean towards them if they train in Phoenix. I also have family that works for Swift, although not with drivers I don't think, so they're not out of the question either if comes to it.
I guess I'm just looking for other options I may have overlooked. Thanks for any help.

Refrigerated outfits seem to have the most fancy trucks on the road and the trucks are set up for driver comfort. Reefers aren't for everyone, but I did them for 18 years and liked it just fine.
Some reefer outfits with their own cdl schools are:
Jim Palmer Trucking
Prime Inc.
Stevens Transport
All three of these, the driver rides in style!Veryblessed Thanks this.
