I have a flat top Pete and currently running a portable AC unit. But it’s kind of a pain because I’ve got to set it up every time I want to use it. Would like to check out the Paccar, smart air system, but can’t seem to find any information Except for a couple short videos on YouTube. Anyone know anything about the units how much power they draw, etc. I’m sure they cost a fortune through Paccar

That is a factory installed system made by Bergstrom, don’t think you can get it aftermarket. You can get the nite phoenix aftermarket.

Get a green APU. It wont cost a lot more (i was quoted at $7200 installed for smart air when i asked about 2 and a half years back and my green was all of $13K installed with a goodly chunk being removing my old tripac) and an APU is generally more reliable while entirely negateing the idle time of the rig which helps with emissions issues. Also you can have them add fuel line heaters so you wont ever gel up as long as you have heated filters.

For the smart unit itself though i admit i have limited experince. Ive never used one though ive heard horror storys.....but ive heard them about APUs too so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I have the "smart-air" system in my 567. Not a great unit. It's mostly for low temp areas but where the sun may heat up the interior. It will not cool you if it's over about 80f outside. It draws a ton of juice and the way it is setup from the factory, it will start your prime mover engine with a 240 amp alternator to charge the batteries once a certain draw down voltage is reached. It also is a nightmare to charge with 134a. You can not do it with a can and gauges. You have to have a freon pump to charge the system.
