    Hello,

I have been with the same small company doing mostly Hotshot work for 5years but they have recently closed. Have truck, step deck and plates. Considering switching to grain, livestock just for a different experience, have never crossed the border.

Seems like any of the companies advertising for operators have a bad reputation or no rates.

    Thank you.

I was at Monarch Transport (Not Monarch messenger) several years back. Good people, steady work, mostly ran into BC. Rates weren’t the best, but no surprises.
Also TST Overland, terminal to terminal, Western Canada only.
I’ve been on percentage at a few outfits in the past, but they nickel and dime you for everything.
Which is what I am doing now.
Super B hopper bottom in Saskatchewan. Steady work, but the lineups put a big damper in your potential earnings.

Just be careful when you read the ads. Many BC companies aren't satisfied just trolling and abusing drivers and owner/ops in BC. Now they're flooding the job ads in Alberta. Avoid them all.

Yep, I've pulled many loads out of the old place you guys were at. It's good that you have a new location in Surrey because the last one was a zoo during the day. The Kelowna location is great with lots of room. The Edmonton one is usually stacked full overnight. Too bad nobody puts anything down to combat the ice. One time I tried to yard a trailer out of there and had to chain up just to get out of the hole. The PG one is ok if the gates are open. The Calgary one is ok.

But it's too bad you guys don't pay more to owner/ops. Like I've told many companies, you get what you pay for. Although I admit that the last time I asked about the rates it was the princely sum of all of $1.60 per mile. Also, the extra stop to Kelowna on the way back to the coast from Edmonton causes the owner to burn a lot more fuel and take a lot more time than the pittance that's paid to them extra for it.

    So, what's the rates now?
