Hello!
I was overweight 3900 lbs on my rear axles 3 days ago in California. Officer gave me Notice to Appear in court in about 45 days. He told me that only I will have to pay the ticket, not company. I also got DRIVER/VEHICLE EXAMINATION REPORT where it is written that : violations recorded on this SafetyNet Inspection Report must be corrected prior to redispatch. Do I have to report this to my company in Manitoba? That same day I went back to company where I loaded and they taked off two pallets from my load so I was scale legal and finish my trip....

Yes, ANY time you are inspected and violations are found, you have to send the inspection report to your company so they can sign and verify that the defects have been corrected and send it back to the DOT within 15 days.
As for who pays the ticket, that's between you and your company. If the company says they'll pay it, make certain they do...because if they DON'T, it falls back on YOU to pay whatever penalties may be associated with it.
Overweight tickets really aren't all that big of a deal. No points assigned to the company's CSA or to your MVR. It just costs money. Pay the fine and don't lose any sleep over it.Coolbreezin, Zachary 77, albert l and 2 others Thank this. -
Ok. Thank you!

My conditions when I use to go to the Pupular Socialist Republic of CA
1: Light load
2:no parking overnight
3:Watch my Speed
I don't understand why Out of State companies still wanna do business in a place where Agencies make decisions on enforcing laws that do not reflect the rest of the Sates or Can.
They are arbitrarily deciding the fate of drivers doing business in their State
Someone needs to look in to their Impediment of Interstate Commerce practices.
I personaly never had a problem in CA but I here nothing but horror stories
Sorry for the Rant
Good luck with your situation -
thejackal Thanks this.

3900lbs over on your tandems? I'm sorry, I don't usually laugh at the misfortune of others. But in this instance, I'll make an exception.
