This is for the oversizers. I'm looking into putting LED Light Bar on a stand on the headache rack. For my oversize light. I am having the darnedest time finding any that tickle my fancy.
I'd like to have 2 mini light bars or 1 big one. Any suggestions?

I did a 48 inch light bar. Bought it form Speed Tech Lights. I had one of those EBAY light bars, first one I bought off EBAY was $275 new in the box. It worked, but I had one of those glorified buzzards hit it and tear it to bits (trying to decide if bald eagles are stupid because it seems that I've hit them more than anything else. I did a SEARCH for the brightest light bars on the market and SpeedTech came up. Thing is, the wiring harness is made for cars, and so I did have to cut the harness and extend the wiring so that I could use it in an 18. You'd figure how pricey they are that they would make a plug N play wiring extension, but they don't. Well no one did when I was buying.

Had two of these on my last truck.
If you want a full size light bar, the brightest I have found is from www.feniex.com they are made in Austin, TX. Had a pilot car with one of the Avatar light bars, he could control the light bar with an app on his phone. -
Look at towmate power link
They don't require special wires, just need to be hooked to the same 12 volt system as the controller, you can add a light to the trailer and control it from the cab with no special wiring.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Where did you get those at Oscar?

These are what I use on all my trucks. I've found that they stand up to the abuse of being mounted on the headache rack. They rotate thru three preprogrammed flash patterns and are fairly bright.

Where do you plan to run oversize? Certain states have requirements on at least size. New Mexico requires 5-foot bars to run oversize now.

i'm starting to see trucks with lights in front of the radiator. one on each corner of the grill.
i've seen trucks with their lights under the bumper in teh middle. then there's the rotating beacon on the top middle of roof. or a rotator on each side of the truck.
but i guess that depends on the state requirements also. and the owners light preference. -
All I run are those two up on the top and have never come across a state that says I need more.
Of course Florida requires a 360 degree at the rear of the trailer and they enforce it. Colorado has rear light requirements as well but I have never seen it enforced. In the past I have run additional lights in the grill, on the bumper, in the windshield etc. and as far as I'm concerned they made no difference in getting peoples attention.
Honestly the best lights I have ever had as far as visibility and getting peoples attention were the old halogen rotating beehives like you see on most cranes. In fact I'm ordering a set of these for my truck and going to put those xenon strobe ones in a box.
As for LED lights, as @Oscar the KW said, Feniex is by far the brightest. Not sure where they source their LED's from, likely Chinese Cree's but they are assembled in the US and they are the gold standard when it comes to being bright.Last edited: May 26, 2015
