This wreck looks really . . . expensive. For a minute when I was a new driver, I thought hauling wind turbines would be a great place to try to get to in my career. Then I delivered a load of rebar for a tower base south of Glenrock Wyoming and talked to a couple of those guys and decided, nope, I'm getting too old to try that. The wind really rocks the blades and guess what? They tend to deliver them to windy places.

Good on you guys that do that job. You have my respect.

How much does just the blade weigh?

I see blades being hauled primarily by tri-axles. I'm guessing it's because the larger diameter of the butt end of the blade would put a tandem axle over weight on the drives?

the trailers weigh almost 50k empty

so we are pushing 80k empty

so yes you need a 4 axle to scale the blades over 70m for sure and a bunch of the 65m plus

    Texasgordo and spindrift Thank this.
