I made this thread in the hopes of learning more about private contractors overseas.

I have heard they can make loads of cash however i can find no sites with any information. Although I have little job experience and 22 years old I am still interested in finding a job in the middle east if it is worth the risks. :biggrin_25511:Anyone information would be greatly appreciated epically from any veterans that are out there.

You can always checkout KBR but watch this video and see if you think its worth it I dont know if youve ever been in combat or not but its a lot diffrent being there as a civilian contractor lets just say you wouldnt have quite the backup that you would in a military unit. I believe the driver in this video was shot several times but did survive and made it home.

I think they might make around 100k to 120k from what ive heard but the key word here is CONTRACT you leave early and break that I imagine you get screwed at least thats how it is with the security contractors like Blackwater and DynCorp. Not sure about the firearms question though.

My Fiances Brother is in Iraq, working for KBR, The money used to be very good until they started taxing it.
Don't quote me but I'm reasonably sure his pay was around 8000 a month now its been reduced quiet a bit but he no longer drives as he hurt his groin trying to change a tire and now works in the office where he pays taxes.

The last I knew about it,...the first 80,000 is tax free..As long as you stay out of the country for 335 days,..As a contract driver you are not allowed a firearm.....

well i know for a fact if you stay overseas for a year you cant be taxed or maybe there is some other stipulation :biggrin_25511: after learning about backwater its not as bad as it seems, however the risk of human life is always invaluable.

When I was there in 05-06 it was $80k tax free if you were out of the country 330 days. You could be in country 35. No exceptions for any thing. That video was in 04 or 05 and was a total freak occurrence. Military led them down a dead end and then bugged out. They were reservists who had no business escorting a convoy and got a bunch killed. You could go a whole year and never see any trouble or you could get into it everyday. No lines. It is not anything like it was a years or even a few months ago. But you never know when someone will take a shot at you. Trucks have ballistic blankets around three sides of the cab. Kind of like a giant bullet vest. KBR has lost a lot of their LOGCAP contracts so I don't know what all they handle over there now. But there are more truckers getting hijacked and killed in stories posted on this forum than in Iraq. Doesn't say a lot of good about us does it?
