Is there any legal problem (anywhere in the US) with a load extending forward of the front of a 53' fifth-wheel trailer (as long as it is secured, doesn't snag the truck/lines, etc.)?
Overhanging load between truck and trailer, is it legal?

Some states like SC make you have a permit to over hang FT. 3ft. max with the 53ft, co I was leased on with bought a few to haul 60ft bar and some states were bad in the south I kept using a alum. 45ft spread and you could hang no more than 1/3 of total steel I beams off the back?

Check with all of the states you are going with any load that exceeds the front or rear of your trailer. Usually the front isnt a problem provided you check your states to be sure it's either a permit or none. And that you are aware of your turning etc.
Personally I don't have a issue with it, Ive seen it done. But sometimes in some areas it's under oversize flags etc. -
I’d like to say ‘you’re all good’, but as said - check different state requirements.
Some Permits I order enquire as to front overhang on trailer, but not all.
I use heavyhaul.net for quick reference. Links to State websites. -

Thanks, all! I don't want to deal with permits so I'm just going to Tetris everything until it fits.

Only rear overhang has rules about it. Generally it’s 4ft without permit but you need a flag. This isn’t every state but most. -
