I honestly thought this was going to go a different direction.... What do ya know.
-
Have you checked all the cables even the one going from and to the battery. You might have a short. And how do you know its overcharging? Have you used multi voltage meter
-
well i have checked everything and it is charging at 17.29 Volts. so i changed the alternator again and it is back to normal and let's see how long it will be like this. if it dies the the same again then i will change all the wires and will see if i solves he issue. Thanks to all he fellows who helped me in this venture.

Voltage regulator?

Its a real chance that you were sold a rebuilt alt. and it was bad out of the box?
crb Thanks this. -
i guess so as the batteries got cooked too and i changed the batteries too. the batteries got swollen due to the cold weather of Manitoba.

You all forget about remote sense wire.
It runs from battery box to alternator.
If it is damaged and short to ground alternator overcharges.
Try to unscrew RS wire and jump RS terminal with positive terminal of alternator/Heavyd Thanks this. -
On some trucks, this wire may be connected to starter powitive terminal, for example on DAF XF trucks.
Inside alternator there is resistor connecting output terminal and RS terminal, but it may be corroded
so separate this wire and fit a pice of wire from output to RS terminalbaha Thanks this. -
Or.......
He might just have a positive and a negative wire on alternator and that's it.
Prob just a bad alternator.
