You may refer to me as "The Undertaker". I used to work as a truckdriver for Otto Trucking. This company's purpose is hauling two things: rock products and trash. If you are thinking about working for them, DRIVER BEWARE.

The maintaince on there trucks are the worst that I have ever encountered in my 14 years of driving. This is do to the owner of the company fighting all the time with his brother. But, they have even a worse problem: Their work ethic is nothing short of inhuman.

I pulled in to there West yard on September 4th, 2011 and the owner was there. He saw me pull in with a set of doubles early and then walked over to my truck while I was doing my post trip. First he came up to me and asked me not to drop my hood so hard.( I dropped the hood about 6in. to ensure it closed evenly). He went back and talked to his yard dog, Charley, then came back to me at the left rear of the back trailer and asked me how the fender got damaged. I told him that I didn't know and then he said the damage on the fender looked fresh and proceeded to accuse me of the damage to the trailer. I was mad but held my ground and said I didn't do it.

Then the owner of the company said something to yard dog and called Ben over to look at the fender who, was one of their worst known, bad truck boses. ( Ben once, kept a driver from getting out of his truck to use the bathroom while on an asphalt job ).

The next thing that I know they all walked away without saying a word. I started to take my paper work to the driver's room and as I was leaving my truck when I was approached by the supposed safety man, Who I shall refer to as Bill Zonar, who walked me back over by the truck.

Mr. Zonar tried talking me into admitting that I did the damage to the fender and proceded to walk around to the right rear of the tractor and pointed to some damage to right fender and said, "This damage is to old so we can't accuse you of doing that"

I simply held my ground and he didn't know how to handle it, ( I don't mind telling you, I felt the urge to hit him but I never did as he just wasn't worth it, I am proud of myself for holding it back ),so he accused me of wanting to argue with him. He then left and I proceeded to go to the drivers room to turn my paper work.

As the saftey person Mr. Zonar and the yard dog Charley walked away I overheard Mr. Zonar thank Charley for buying him Breakfast earlier that morning.

On the way home, about 15min, Bill Zonar called me and told me that I was terminated.

The stink of the matter is that they have GPS tracking on all their trucks and since it was a clear day, they could visually track every move that the truck made. Not only that but there would have to, say the least, been a mark on the tire along with the damaged fender and tire had been recently changed.

This was not the first time they had done this type of thing to me but I am sure this is among the worst. There are at least two other incidents that I could post.

Otto's trash hauling is just as bad. There was a time they had me pulling a trailer that was full of trash and I had to climb up into the top of the trailer over the trash to untarp the load so it could be dumped into the tipper.

This company work ethic needs to be dealt with very harshly and is totally unacceptable.TOTALLY!!!!

Otto Trucking employees need to from a good strong union and tell the owner to either treat his employees like human beings or sell the company to someone who can!

I have also noticed issues with the way the employees are being payed, I tried checking my pay check stub and gave up, it is useless. Even DOT is on them watching.:biggrin_25516:

This story is true and the people who did this to me know that who they are as well as who I am and should consider themselves very lucky that I didn't use there really names. How in the world grown men could act like this is beyond me!

Getting a lawyer is next to impossible as they all want the easy kill and are doing personnal injury cases. I am convinced that all they would do is take my money and tell me that Arizona is a right to work state.

Yeah, I used to live in Kingman and are familiar with OTTO trucking. All I can say is you should have noted damage on your pre-trip, even if OLD damage, to CYA. Luck to ya'......

IDK when you started working for them or if you have read my what to do posts for when you hire on or quit but this is why I HIGHLY recommend that before you even get into the truck when handed a key you document the truck by taking pictures with the date stamp and geo tagging turned on in the camera or the cell phone you have. If you have no cell then ask for or locate the emergency camera that every truck should have and use it. You can buy one later to replace it. If you don't do that then pull the daily inspection report book or a note pad and write every tiny scratch and ding inside and out and then make a copy of it then get the shop boss or the safety guy or your dispatcher to verify the report and sign it and give them a copy for their files. If they refuse to sign then I do believe it's prudent you ask why and then go find some company worth driving for because if they do not want to verify that there are damages to your truck then you might as well know to kiss your arse goodbye because as we see here they will blame you so they can keep that last paycheck of yours!

That how a BFI does business and treats their employees.

I hope others who read this and are maybe still in that driver mill see that covering your arse is a must do in this cess pool called trucking.

As I stated. When they hand you the keys to a truck have the camera ready. Take pictures of everything from the windows with dings or cracks, the dents, paint chips the tires and much as you can open the hood and take pictures of any oil leaks and the condition of the engine. then open the door and take a few from out side and then the other door. then pictures of dash, seats, floor the sleeper, cabinets, floor, curtains, mattress, under the bunk and anything else you want. Be sure to show all the dirt on the floor in the ash tray because I surely hope you clean it to better than what it was issued to you so that when you quit or get fired the pictures you take again of the truck before you handing in the keys of a clean truck with no new damages will make it hard for them to lie to your face saying they gave you a perfectly in shape truck! Also the geo-tagging on those pictures and a picture of the truck in front of a sigh with BFIs name on it and in the shop with a mechanic standing next to it they can't say it was abandoned in BFE as many do! Cover your arse! A picture IS worth a thousand words now with geo-tagging and new technology!
