OTR means I don't need a house or car?

    Basically I've been working at a Chinese restaurant 12 hours a day, 6 days a week for 3 years and I live in the boss's house for free, free food and I don't need a car because the boss drives me to work and drives me home, and I get paid $2,700 every month.
    Now I want to change job and be a trucker, so over the road is like same thing right? But shorter hours and no free food?
    I don't need a house or a car for over the road job right?

    Some free food if you stack up points on your fuel card and want to use the points for food. Shorter hours...maybe??

    I had two cars when I started OTR training back in June of last year. I'm down to one car now and it's gonna be gone soon enough. Just don't need one. I've got plenty of friends and relatives. Don't need a house either...at least for right now.

    You will need a permenant address, (taxes,cdl, ins. ect) but just find a relitive or friend you trust and use that and slip them a couple $$ for "rent" If your don't have a home residence then you cannot take the per deim on your taxes(legaly)

    I'm 22 and still many months away from 23, I heard that in order to OTR you have to be at least 23?
    I mean I got a ticket 4 years ago and an accident 2 years ago with a warning, so it's not likely I will get an OTR job?
    I mean I will go to school and get a CDL and I will do the best I can in school and the school offers job assistance.

    In order to drive Interstate you've got to be 21 (Federal law). So if you can get a CDL and get hired somewhere, you'd be good to go, pardon the pun. Age limits above that are a function of individual company policy and insurance requirements. That "accident two years with a warning" might bite you. All you can do is research and fill out applications.

    Does that mean it's not possible for me to get an OTR?
    The accident was caused by snowing, the officer gave me a warning, no ticket.
    Would any truck company overlook that and give me a job? At least entry level OTR with low pay?

    I thought the worst will be DUI or DWI and accident that cause injury/death, which I have none

    You will get hired,one accident is not a job killer;but if you get one when training in the company truck Bye Bye!

    Supreme guy :OTR 11hours of driving 6 days a week;Your truck is your new home.You won't be making much more than $1.200 take home per month starting out.When the training period is over(anywhere from 3-8 weeks) you might be able to earn as much as you do at the Chinese restaurant,if you log enough miles,maybe more maybe less;it all depends on your mileage.
