I'm an OTR driver looking for a good long haul job with a small company, preferably under 25 trucks. Van or reefer. Home time is not important for me. A month or more is very possible, if I can get what I need. A solid, reliable truck is very important. Without that nothing else matters. Looking for something with a little wheelbase, strong power, decent sleeper, preferably stick shift, 75 mph or better. Almost anything Peterbilt/Kenworth, longer Freightliners, and some others. Need near maximum miles, above 3k miles a week consistently. Nationwide and long haul is what I do best. Midwest to west coast round trips would be ideal, if possible. Reasonable pay for my experience. For any 1099 jobs I'm looking for pay at the end of each week, no holds.

28 years OTR experience. CDL A, renewed a month ago. 2 year DOT physical in February. Good MVR, no moving violations or accidents. Good PSP, a couple minor violations over 2 years ago. No criminal record ever. No drugs EVER, registered in the FMCSA clearinghouse. Lifetime NON smoker. I don't drink alcohol. Good physical condition. 8 year US Army infantry veteran, 86 - 94, Honorable. * Based in Rochester, Indiana now.

Back up my word, and looking for the same in an employer.

Ready to go now. Waiting on a serious job offer that meets my needs. Looking for something with long term possibilities, beyond this current climate.

I have NO interest in ANY big fleets, or anyone connected to them. Smaller is better to me. Not interested in being handcuffed to ANY mega customers, or anything dedicated unless there are major miles involved.

Have to mention that if your equipment is junk please don't waste your time, or mine. Been at this so long I find pretty much everything. Worked for the record I have, and I'm looking to keep it.

SAV sounds a lot like what your describing. Good solid company. Small. Meghan is the lady to talk to. They have like 100-125 trucks. I have met prob about 50 drivers so far being here about 6 months and they all like it here. That says alot. 651-925-6585

You missed the part where he doesn't care about the amount the company has to spend on fuel, he needs big power and high speeds.

You sound like a big fleet troll, and a bit arrogant. I couldn't care less about your opiniion. I'm guessing you're driving that nickel and dime fleet truck in your photo. My post probably makes you a little self conscious. I have valid reasons for everything I ask for. Either you have it, or you don't. Doesn't really matter. I've taken a local job. I'll let you high and mighty guys deal with otr for a while.

Actually, I don't drive much anymore, I hire AND RETAIN drivers for the company (retention is more important than the hiring).

Here's some simple math from a former O/O: There's only so much in trucking, and it is allocated into 4 columns. A: Truck, because it always eats first. B: Driver, because without it, the truck can't move. C: Administration/Compliance. Without them, the truck can't legally roll and the bills aren't paid. D: Profit. This is actually the smallest column per truck.

Now, with those columns, anything added to one takes from the others. So, you want big power and high speeds? That's a bigger truck payment and double the fuel, adding a lot to column A. So where will it come from? Well, column C is pretty fixed and can't be reduced. Column D is already too slim, so that leaves column B, straight out of your pocket.

Yeah, supertruckers don't get it, but every additional gallon in fuel you use during the week reflects in your final earnings. O/Os and fleet owners understand, however, and that's why you had little response here to your posting over a 90 day period. I used to want to go fast and have big power, but suddenly when I was paying for the maintenance and fuel on big power with high speeds, I suddenly didn't utilize the big power and I slowed down to below 70, because I could go nearly twice as far on the fuel in the tank. When you cut out $200/day in fuel expense, that leaves more in your pocket in the end. When driving someone else's truck, it leaves them more money to better care for you and the truck. Nowadays, I am part of the management of a fleet that is averaging 8.5 mpg. The average fleet today only averages 6 mpg, so those 2.5 mpg across 100 trucks really adds up, and the owners toss it back to the drivers in the form of Christmas bonus deposits in their HSAs, covering all the fees in their 401(k)s, paying for satellite radio subscriptions for anyone who wants them, and hosting an annual awards banquet at no cost to the driver for either the meal or the hotel expenses (and they can bring their spouses, too). They have even held the health insurance premiums for the drivers at the same level the past two years and eaten the additional premium costs themselves. If we only got 6 mpg, however, they wouldn't be able to do any of that for the drivers, and it would be just another run of the mill operation. If they only got the 4.5 mpg that a hood truck with 600 hp does going 75+, they would have to cut pay and benefits across the board in order to remain somewhat profitable.

Oh, yeah. US Army, Retired. 1994-2014. Calm down, SGT SuperTrucker.

Good for you. I was a sergeant before you ever joined the Army. Kinda curious what you did in the Army. I knew I smelled a big fleet troll. And you don't evwn have the gonads to id your company. You seem to want to give a doctoral dissertation on all things trucking. Almost borders on whining. I think your figures are bs, or you have some severely castrated trucks. If you can get some poor ######## willing to be a robot, and drive that nickel and dime crap equipment, good for you.
