Well it has been an uphill climb, but I think I am over the top. Prostectamy in August, 2008. Thirty-seven radiation treatments over the summer in 2009. Finally got back to work in September, part time. PSA is 0.02 falling gradually since radiation. Time to get back in a truck.

I have to do a refresher and been approved for CRST. Purhaps not the flagship company, but heck, their giving me the chance which no one else would.

Biggest fear........almost 18 months of unemployment in the last three years. I took the time to heal, and didn't realize how hard it would be to get back into the work force. Wound up working my tail off in the meat department at Walmart for 8.75 per hour. Hoping all my "T"s are crossed and the company doesn't decide at the last minute that I could be a liability because of the now "non-existant" medical issue.

Anyone else returned to the road after prostate cancer?

I had Lymphoma 10 years ago this July. Had 6 months of chemo, 5 weeks of every day radiation and 4 surgeries. I was out for 14 months and been OTR since.

Good to hear things are going good for you Bigsam. I've just got a case of the jitters with the economy and all. Hate to start at square one again, but I really want to drive. Nice to know I won't be "alone" out there.

    Jimbo,
You just have to learn to not be stubborn and listen to what your body is telling you. If you're tired, stop and rest. Don't over do it. After your treatments you'll find that you'll get tried easier. It does get better.... took me a couple of years to get back 100%. No load is worth putting your well being at risk. (I've learned the hard way).

    Jimbo56 Thanks this.

Tired. Been there....done that. Finished radiation in August 09 and still have periods that I really feel wore down. CRST is a team outfit so finding a compatable co-driver will also be an issue. Got an 8 month contract for the refresher, so I'll at least stick it out that long. I need to establish some longetivity in my work history as of late so I hope it works out.
