I believe the main flatbed locations are Greer SC, Phoenix AZ, and Gary IN.

I just went through it there. During the three days you will do lots of paperwork. A road test
For 6 miles or so around the terminal. Physical was the 2nd morning, long wait in office.
Positive things: Bernard does orientation and is good at it, great personality. Safety man Mike
Is good too, cares about you and the company. The man that does the road test is relaxed
and he doesn't go out of his way to make you nervous.
Things that disappointed me: one of my fellow students was allowed to sleep in class,
wear cut off pants and listen to his Ipad during class. After our 3rd day, I was told that I would get a call when a mentor was assigned to me. I waited with my phone close by for 4 days, then I wrote a nice mail saying that I patiently awaited my chance... and nothing was replied back to me. I finally got a call 8 days later from my assigned mentor. There were 9 of us in that class and all but 2 of us were locals who stayed at home during this process. I really doubt I was the first to get mentored up, probably one of the last because I wasn't costing the company $ for a motel room. I just wish that the communication was better, had I known I had to wait that long I could've used that week and gone somewhere nice with my wife instead of staying close to my house with my cell phone glued to my hand!
I have 10 hours left of my 240 to go. I used to truck years ago, and I have learned more these 6 weeks with my mentor than I did being at another company for 6 months. My advice, if you don't think the mentor you get can cut it, then get another one asap! I have a great one now, and this time around I have been set up to succeed, not set up to fail as I was with the 1st company I went with.

8 speeds. Don't worry, I smoothed out the gears by taking the rough edges out for you. As long as your safe and obey the traffic signs, you will be ok.

No pre-trip checks, this guy did the road tests constantly throughout the day, back to back... The safety guy Mike took us out as a class and showed us the minimum of what he expected us to check. He also showed us how to use the mirror station to make sure they are adjusted properly for the individual drivers.

Just as long as you put ALL the background/history check stuff on the application, your as good as hired pending physical and drug test.
