The backing test is pretty tough for a newbie, at least it was for me. May is a good company w/ good equipment. Have fun.

I was leased to May back in the '70s,(this was before Bud turned the company over to his sons Blaine & Marvin) the company drivers were paid 7 cents a mile and the teams split 7.5 cents. they were cheap then and they haven't changed.... altho the equipment is much better.

Take it from a new may driver.(SOLO 3 days now) The KEY TO BACKING IS THE S MOVE.
    And small steering movements
Orientation was learning qualcomm .show how to use the commdata card/checks, passing the driving test. Then get a trainer

maybe it depends on your training before orientation, but I didn't find the skills test very "hard". you can get out as much as you want, pull up as many times as you want. he (or she) is just checking to make sure you aren't just ramming that sucker into a spot without even thinking about getting out and looking. we made mistakes during the skills test, but it didn't get us kicked out.

I went to orientation in denver, so might be a little different, but well as with most orientations it was kinda boring lol. you do some paperwork, do some trip planning, learn about the qualcomm and well I think that was about it. your first day, for us anyway, we didn't really do much except drug test, skills test and road test. they took us out for lunch each day.

have a void check for direct deposit info (they want something on paper even if you personally know the info), name/address/ssn i think? for anyone you want for your insurance. also, they don't tell you in orientation, and it may not matter to most but your pay week as a trainee is from sunday-saturday, it doesn't follow the same pay period as the other drivers. you can get an advance (up to 125 I think) and they do it like right then and there, i requested it on the qualcomm and like 5 minutes later they completed it. they ask you for a realistic date you will be ready to go after orientation, but that doesn't mean they will have a trainer ready for ya immediately so you may have to wait, someone else mentioned waiting a few weeks, for me it was a week and a half.

Just trying to remember the little things I wasn't informed about to throw out there lol, I'm currently still out with my trainer, good luck :)

if you are going to orientation they should already have all that info from your application :)
we don't actually have direct deposit as an option.....
your money is put onto a comdata card for you, ever thursday (or whenever you request an advance). Each time you use that card you get charged a fee (think its $1), thats for EVERY transaction, and we were told even if you just check the balance that also counts. you get one free transaction for ever deposit I believe, onto the card. so what most people do is give may their banking information and use that one free transaction to transfer the money from their comdata card into their personal bank. do you have to do that? no, but you cant use that card for anything else, like to pay for stuff like a debit card (not that I'm aware of anyway). it has totally different numbers than a debit/credit card so you cant use it to pay for stuff online (thats how I pay my phone, internet, etc...) so if you just plan on withdrawing the money from the card then yeah you're fine :)
